Historic Spanish Point

Distance  9 miles, about 17 minutes drive. A little bit of history in a lovely setting on Little Sarasota Bay. It has many acres of lovely grounds, historic homes, Indian middens, and gulf views with wildlife.

Selby Botanic Gardens

Distance  7 miles, about 15 minutes drive. Selby is home to many spectacular trees, shrubs, mangroves, and tropical flowers. It is situated on the bay with great views of Downtown Sarasota. Well worth a couple of hours visit.

Mote Marine

Distance  11 miles, about 24 minutes’ drive. Somewhat underfunded but worth at least one visit to go and see with whom you are sharing the sea.

Farmer’s markets

There is a small Farmers Market on Sundays in the Siesta Key Village:  Distance  3 miles, about 10 minutes drive. There is a much bigger one in Sarasota every Saturday morning: Distance  8 miles, about 20 minutes drive. Go early and try to park in the Whole Foods lot so that you can shop there afterwards for anything you couldn’t find in the market.

The Ringling Art Museum

Distance  11 miles, about 25 minutes drive.

Part art museum, part performance center, part garden, part house tour. Check it all out at :

https://www.ringling.org/. It is set in a beautiful corner of the bay and home to just about anything with an artistic flavor. Not to be missed.
